President Meloni meets with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

During her participation in the G20 Rio Summit, the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a meeting today with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.

The discussion allowed the two leaders to verify the implementation status of the Italy-Canada Roadmap for Enhanced Cooperation, which was adopted during their meeting at the G7 Apulia Summit. In this regard, President Meloni and Prime Minister Trudeau expressed satisfaction with the results that have already been achieved over the last months, such as the first meeting of the Joint Advisory Group on Artificial Intelligence, adoption of a joint statement on cooperation regarding critical materials and the strengthening of collaboration between the respective space agencies.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for discussion between the outgoing and incoming Presidencies of the G7. In this regard, President Meloni offered her best wishes to the Canadian Presidency and expressed her hope to see continuity in terms of issues and priorities, with particular reference to the Italian Presidency’s focus on the African continent.
