The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.
President Meloni offered her best wishes to Prime Minister Trudeau ahead of the handover of the G7 Presidency between Italy and Canada at the end of the year. During the call, President Meloni highlighted the main results achieved by the Italian Presidency and, in view of the agenda being defined for the next G7 Summit, shared the importance of ensuring full continuity also with regard to the issues of Africa and the Mediterranean, in addition to the key priorities of the Canadian Presidency as outlined by Prime Minister Trudeau.
In closing, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between Italy and Canada and had an exchange of views on the main issues on the international agenda, paying particular attention to the situation in the Middle East and the most recent developments in Syria, also in view of the upcoming G7 video conference scheduled for 13 December.
