President Meloni’s telephone conversation with President Erdoğan of Türkiye

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on the latest developments in the situation in Syria.

The call provided an opportunity for President Meloni to stress the importance of preserving Syria’s unity and territorial integrity and of ensuring a peaceful and inclusive transition that can also contribute to regional stability.

President Meloni also underlined the absolute need to guarantee the safety of civilians and to protect all the minorities present in Syria, including Christians.

Given the rapid evolution of the situation on the ground, the two leaders agreed to keep in close contact.
