Statement by Palazzo Chigi on the President of the Republic’s end-of-year message

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a cordial telephone conversation today with the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during which she expressed both her personal and the Government’s appreciation for the Head of State’s end-of-year message.

During the call, President Meloni expressed her appreciation for President of the Republic Mattarella’s reference to the founding value of patriotism, as the impetus for the daily work and the heartfelt drive behind the commitment of those who serve the public good and the national community.

There was full agreement on the need to address the growing unease among the younger generations, by proposing concrete and effective solutions. There was likewise agreement on the reference to positive macroeconomic indicators, with particular regard to export and employment figures, coupled with the commitment to intensify actions to reduce areas of job insecurity and poorly paid work.

President Meloni also expressed her gratitude to the President of the Republic for having talked about Italy’s strong commitment in the global context, also as G7 Presidency, with regard to crisis scenarios, the road towards peace in Ukraine and the Middle East and upholding international law.

In closing, President Meloni wished the President of the Republic and his loved ones all the best for 2025 and for the continuation of his mandate.
