President Meloni’s statement on Raffaele Fitto being confirmed as Executive Vice-President of the European Commission

Raffaele Fitto has been confirmed as Executive Vice-President of the European Commission.

This important role being assigned to the Commissioner nominated by Italy is a victory for all Italians, not just for the Government or a political party.

We have been given a significant portfolio and coordination of policy areas that are strategic for our nation and for Europe as a whole, such as agriculture, fisheries, the marine economy, transport and tourism.

This appointment confirms that Italy has regained a central role in Europe, befitting our role as a founding member of the EU, the second largest manufacturer in Europe and the continent’s third largest economy.
