The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed Ali, at Palazzo Chigi today.
Confirming the importance of the partnership between the two nations, the meeting highlighted Ethiopia’s deep appreciation for the implementation of several initiatives that have been agreed as part of the Mattei Plan for Africa, in the sectors of water, the strengthening of healthcare facilities, and sustainable agriculture.
President Meloni also expressed appreciation for the ongoing impactful economic reforms, which are allowing Ethiopia to continue on a path of growth and increased Italian investments, based on long-standing, fruitful economic collaboration.
At the end of the meeting, President Meloni confirmed her intention to visit Ethiopia in order to co-chair, together with Prime Minister Abiy, the United Nations Food Security Summit which will be held in Addis Ababa on 28 July.
