President Meloni meets with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, at Palazzo Chigi today. The meeting provided an opportunity for an in-depth exchange of views in preparation for the upcoming NATO Summit, with particular reference to spending on collective security and the building of an increasingly innovative and competitive defence industry, in complementarity with the EU. The meeting reaffirmed support for Ukraine and the Atlantic Alliance’s role as an essential pillar for collective defence, as well as the importance of a comprehensive approach to Euro-Atlantic security.
