Germany had spectacular victories early on in WW2 but it lost at El Alamein, Stalingrad, Kursk, D Day, Bagration, Battle of the Bulge, etc. Not accepting that it had lost by the start of 1945 just meant more death and devastation in Germany. Ukraine has lost at Mariupol, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, etc. Its 2024 summer offensive was a spectacular failure. It is not going to keep hold of any territory in Russia and every day it loses more Ukrainian territory and lives. If Ukraine’s objective is to damage Russia, by all means keep going. If it is to save Ukrainian lives and secure as much of Ukraine as possible, it is time for serious peace negotiations.
